Hi Jayne: Thanks for your kind words. No, I haven't thought of teaching gardening classes, but perhaps that's a good idea.

Hello to you all... Last night I once again made lamb shanks using Barbara Kafka's recipe. I know it is a cold weather dish, but when you hit a lamps shank sale, what can you do? It is wonderful, but way too much for two people. Knowing that beans and grains are protein compliments, I decided to make polenta as a side dish. I followed a recipe, but what I hoped to end up with was Joe Norton's twice baked grits. We stayed at her B& B in New Iberia, back when diansaurs walked the earth. She had served them for breakfast, and I can still remember them. Any ideas our there.

It has been uncomfortably hot and humid in Southern California, but I don't have to tell you all about that...I still get hungry and I remebered that when I was a pre-teen, my mother used to make Farmers' Chop Suey. Have you ever heard of it? I checked and found it to be legit, but mom's recipe was simpler. A combo of cottage cheese, sour cream, cucumber, raddishes and green onions. She added a dash of worstershire sauce and Lawry's seasoned salt and pepper.

Try it, you might like it.
